Review for Violets and Violence by Morgan Parker - 4 bee's knees

I was really liking this up till the ending! I don't like endings like that, and I wanted more to the ending as well. I kept forgetting this was set in modern times because it felt older. I don't know if I even really liked the characters, but in an odd way I did, and I liked the illusionist angle. The characters felt damaged to me, but they really weren't, they were just complex and human. The writing did feel a bit jumbled to me, but the story was really interesting, and I had an idea about what could be going on, and it turns out my idea was what was going on, but I wasn't quite sure till the end. The story was kind of depressing, and there were a lot of odd moments, but for some reason I still really enjoyed it. Some of the choices the characters made, made absolutely no sense, and they really didn't seem very mature for supposed adults. All in All, the bit of mystery, and the uniqueness of the story kept me interested through out the whole story.

Review for Witches Be Burned by Stacey Kennedy - 4 bee's knees

I really love supernatural action romance books, so this was right up my alley. I haven't read the first book, so I didn't have a take on the characters yet, but I really liked all of them, so far, and even though I would have liked to read the first book before this one, I still really enjoyed this. Nexi was kick-ass, but I would have liked to see her grow more with her powers, the times she should use them she doesn't, so she is stilted. Also, I hate when characters don't tell their "team" the truth or the whole truth anyway, so that was a negative point for me because I just know that's going to cause problems. All the action scenes were great, and the world building was interesting. One thing I didn't like, and I'm not quite sure why, was the soul sister thing. I liked that this book had a good blend of romance, action, and character building. I also think the sex scenes were well written, and there weren't so many that I became sick of them, sometimes I find myself skimming over sex scenes in books because there are way too many of them, and they go on forever, but I that wasn't a problem with this book. I think Kyden is great, and I really hope Nexi doesn't break his heart, and I'm thinking although Nexi and Kyden say they love each other, they aren't quite making it legit, so I'm hoping their relationship continues to build in the next book. All in all, I love that there many different supernaturals in this series, and I'm really looking forward to continuing the series, and I will definitely read the first book!

Review for Sweet Agony by Charlotte Stein - 3 bee's knees

I didn't know what to expect with this book, but when I read the synopsis, my first thought was Jane Eyre, and then when the author started making references to Eyre, I see that was intentional. Then as I was reading, I thought it was like the movie the Secretary, this was very close to the beginning of the book, and as I read further it really began to resemble the movie. There was promise in the beginning of the book, but as the book went on it just became about sex, and nothing else happened, just a whole lot of sex exploration, and the sex is of the BDSM nature. The descriptions were very graphic, and the word choice was over the top. They talk dirty to each other all the time, and try to use the most vulgar words. It wasn't really to my liking. I gave this a 3 star, rather than less because I like the whole premise of the story. The book was fine, but it definitely needed more story to it, and the ending was pretty blah. All in all, you have Beauty and the Beast/Jane Eyre in the BDSM world, so if you like all sex books then this will be good for you!

Review for All that Sparkles by Claire Boston - 4 bee's knees

I enjoyed reading this, although it wasn't initially what I was expecting. The cover made me think it would be a sexually charged romance, but it wasn't. In fact, the sex scenes were mainly omitted, there was romance leading up to the act, but no in depth descriptions of the actual act. I liked that this book wasn't all about the sex; I enjoy sweet romances, and this book delivered. This book was pretty tame, and it had a bit of a slow build up to the relationship between the main character. I loved the main characters initial meeting backstory, and I liked both of the characters, so rooting for them was easy. I do wish Imogen had a little bit more sass to her, and Christian was a bit monotone for me; he needed a bit more passion. I liked the fashion industry aspect, and that Imogen makes clothing, and her wanting to branch out from what is expected of her was a good way to show the growth of her character. I liked all the supporting characters, and since I haven't read the first book in the series, I'd like to do that because they were in this book a bit, but I don't think reading this book without reading the first book was a problem since it's about a different set of main characters. All in all, this book was a cute romance with likable characters with a sweet backstory.

Review for Beautiful Collision by Toni Vallan - 4 bee's knees

Oh man! Cliffhanger! I did really enjoy this book, despite the cliffhanger, and I'm really looking forward to the next book! I liked Gray as a character, although she does make some questionable decisions, and she really is quite naïve, but I still liked her and was rooting for her. Thane is wonderful! I do hope in the next book that the characters are given more depth, and we find out more about them. I think Gray and Thane are cute together, and I'm really looking forward to how this story is going to play out. The whole on the run scenario, and the sense of danger that's always possible, but I do hate how the heroine doesn't call the police, and how long it takes her to take action. This story felt a bit slow to me, and since it's a series I see why it kind of dragged out. It's going to be interesting when the secrets start to come out!

Review for Exposed by Tracy Wolff- 4 bee's knees

I really liked this! It's definitely overly dramatic, but I enjoy books that are all about deep passionate love, and the whole I can't handle life without you attitude, so this book was a win for me. This is the first book I read in this series, so I'm missing the build up to this part of the story, but I don't feel like I couldn't follow the story, but I do recommend reading the first books; which I plan to do in the near feature. So, having not read the other books and not knowing if Ethan wasn't always his excellent self, I have to say he is great! I like that Ethan and Chloe had a fun relationship, passion is great, but I like the addition of the couples play off each other, it helps make them seem more real, and Ethan being a good guy and not being some brooding bad boy was a nice change to read. And overall, I liked Chloe, there were a couple of times where I think how she handles things was over the top, but I do think she has an inner strength that was nice to see. One thing I didn't like was the addition of a certain element, which I don't want to spoil, so I'll be vague, but I am getting tired of the whole, this is the next natural progression of a relationship, so let's go ahead and have this be in the story because that's what happens; everything doesn't need to be thrown in. But, that thing is a small one, and so many books do it, that I suppose I'll just have to deal. Okay, that's probably confusing, but ah well. There's quite a bit of sex in this book, but I don't feel like it was too much, the couple actually do other things when they are alone together instead of just having sex all the time, the couple actually spends time talking to each other. As I said earlier, I do love that whole you are my whole life mentality, so I loved that aspect. This book was a sweet and passionate romance, and the characters are adorable together!

Review for World After by Susan Ee - 5 bee's knees

Loved this one as much as the first book! This book had all the things I loved from the first book, Kick ass Penryn, Grotesque creatures, Dystopian world, Not quite angelic angels, Awesome Raffe, Penryn's mom and clever dialog. I stayed up way, way to late because I couldn't stop reading! The world that Ee creates it such a treat, and the characters are written wonderfully. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series, I'm sad it's the last book, but glad that hopefully things come to a good conclusion. Love it!

Review for Angelfall by Susan Ee- 5 bee's knees!

I absolutely loved it! Angelfall isn't the typical angel story, it's dark and edgy, and on the brink of macabre. Totally excellent! I love Penryn, she has the a perfect blend of bad ass and awesome human being. She has compassion in a world that it would be very difficult for individuals to keep any hope. She's also intelligent, and she pulls her own weight. I really enjoy dystopian books, so I really enjoyed that aspect of this book, and I was interested till the very end. I'm so glad I have the 2nd book to read because I am starting it right now! Excellent book, really excellent!

Review for The Clouded Sky by Megan Crewe- 4 out of 5 bee's knees

This wasn't quite as action packed as the first book, but I still found it very interesting! It's a lot more about uncovering the mysteries behind those who are against those on Earth and who could be sabotaging the groups mission. This book mainly takes place on Kemya, that really added an interesting element to the story, but with how superior the Kemyanites feel they are, they do have a lot of similar Earthling problems, so it wasn't too much different from Earth in that respect, but all the cool tech was fun. Skylar has definitely grown on me a lot more since the first book, she seems more confident, and I liked how she took initiative to figure things out and learn for herself. I will say that the characters still felt a bit muted to me, and Skylar was the only one I actually felt growing. Win and Jule were growing on me though, and I look forward to seeing their stories evolve in the next book. The story did move a bit slowly, and any scene with Thlo was annoying, and some of the planning sessions were tedious, but the addition of the sort of space battle was lots of fun. This is a great series so far, and I am really looking forward to the next book in the series!

Review for Earth & Sky Megan Crewe- 4 bee's knees

This book had tons of interesting things going on, and I was interested till the end! It did go a bit slowly at times, but because there was a lot of different ideas going on, it kept me reading. There's time travel, going to different countries, and a puzzle to be solved, lots of fun stuff to read about, and the little tidbits of history were enjoyable to read. I was definitely intrigued in the whole sci-fi aspect of this book, it was a great blend of the futuristic and the past. I went with 4 stars instead of 5 because I think the characters were a bit flat, and I just didn't connect with either of the main characters. Skylar was a bit too emotional for my liking, and she overreacted to certain situation; some of it was justified, but a lot of it was just too much, and it made me feel as if she is really fragile, but luckily there were bursts of strength she would show every now and then, but I still couldn't quite connect with her. Win was fine, but I felt he was a bit boring. I hope in the next book, there will be more character development because I really want to care about the characters in the book I'm reading. I will definitely read the next book! The adventure and all the action really draw me in!

Review for Love on the Ledge by Zoraida Cordova- 4 bee's knees

I enjoyed this! I liked that there was bits of humor through out the story, and the chemistry between Sky and Hayden. I'm all about weddings, so I loved that Sky was planning a wedding, and I think it added some fun situations to the story. I love Sky's feistiness, and her standing up for herself, but one thing that was just too odd for me was ( a bit of a spoiler coming up, so beware)...........that Sky got sick when she found out her ex was in town. I mean, come on! That's just nuts, and way too over the top, but I still really like Sky overall. Hayden was super great! I loved that he didn't play games, and he just said what he was feeling; I felt bad for him at times because Sky was kind of jerking him around. I also think Sky and Hayden's first meeting was ultra sweet, and Hayden was just adorable. I haven't read the first book, but I think I will because I liked Lucky and James. I see the next book is River's story, and I really didn't like her, so I don't know if I'll read that one. I just don't like girls like her, and I know she probably has some horrible things in her past, but I don't like reading about how she deals with those issues. I don't know, I may still read it, but I'll have to be in the right mood for it. All in all, this book was cute and fun, and had just the right amount of spice!

Review for The Summer's End by Mary Alice Monroe - 4 bee's knees

I ended up like this book more than I thought I would because the beginning wasn't catching my attention, but in the end I eventually really enjoyed it! I think the main reason I really enjoyed it was I liked Harper a lot, and this book was mainly about her. There are still many parts in the book with the other sisters, and I liked Dora, but I've never been one to like the "wild" child, and Carson really got on my nerves. I can't stand people who keep being a jerk, and then afterwards, they are sorry and all is well, so Carson really annoyed me, you know now that I think about it she definitely has middle child syndrome, and I know she has issues, but I still disliked her. I haven't read the other books in this series, and I think that's okay because I didn't really feel like I couldn't enjoy this book because of it. I suppose I might have a better understanding of each of the characters, but I still this book stands on it's own. I did find the book slow at times, and the writing was a bit dated, but I still enjoyed the depth of the descriptions for the setting; they really brought the story to life. There's not much excitement in this book, it's all about the relationships with the sisters and their grandmother, and the sisters relationships with their men, but all in all I enjoyed this book, it's an easy read and light hearted.
