At the beginning of the book, I was really thinking I wouldn't like it because I just don't like reading about female or male characters who do one night stands all the time; it's just not for me, so I was skeptical about this story, but as the book progressed I really started to like it! Both characters are hard to like, since they are both doing things that are rather devious, well really Kelly was doing devious things, and Caleb was just cold, but they did grow on me as the story went on, and I liked the chemistry between them, and they work well together. There is tons of sex in this book, and the scenes were well written, but for a short book like this, I did find them excessive. I like the mystery in the book, and although I don't like a lot of Kelly's actions because you just know it's going to not end well, I think her actions had some intrigue to the story, so as I read the book I was definitely entertained. Kelly and Caleb are both a bit twisted and damaged, so that adds another element of interest because as the reader, I hoped they would heal, and since this book ending in a cliffhanger, ahhhh, then I will have to wait to see if they do. I will read the next book because this book has left me wanting more!
Oh man! I'm so sad it's over! Destiny Rising was an excellent conclusion to a tremendously wonderful series! I absolutely loved this series, and reading this book has made me want to re-read the first book in the series, True Calling, I have a yearning to read about these characters as they once were. So much has happened to these characters, and they all have grown so much! Ari was amazing in this book, and I loved that she was right in the action and she was so strong! She's such a great female character, she isn't perfect, but that's what makes her great. I think both Cal and Zane are great also, and I enjoyed reading about them as well. This story has evolved into an epic adventure! I loved all the action scenes, and of course I loved the romance, and I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say I'm glad with how it ended. There was one thing I would have changed, but I don't want to spoil it, so I'll stop here. I also wanted more Ari! I liked the Zane point of view stuff, but I wasn't totally in love with it, but in no way did it deter from my utter enjoyment of this book, and I loved Cal's point of views scenes, and of course I love Ari's. I love the world building in this series. Siobhan Davis is a terrific writer, who really draws a reader into a scene. I really look forward to more books by Siobhan Davis, and I'm so glad I got to read this series. I definitely recommend this series, 5 stars across the board. Truly Excellent!
I was all set to give this 3 stars, but that ending was powerful! First off, I still was annoyed with Hope for the majority of the book, just like I was in the first book, and that's mainly why the first book got 3 stars from me, and this book almost did too, but what happened with Michael was written really well, and it bumped the rating up for me. I absolutely loved the setting also, having a glimpse of Turkey, Ireland, and France was interesting, and I liked how the descriptions were written. What's keeping this book from being 5 stars for me is that Hope didn't grow in this book as I was hoping after reading the first, and I still found her too immature and unappreciative of the help people are trying to do for her. I don't care for Hope's mom either, she's so back and forth, and for an adult, she can't catch a clue. I generally like angel stories, so I do like that aspect, but I did feel like all the characters act far younger than his/her age, and because of that there is far too much angst. I also like books that are about having to search for something to stop some type of apocalypse; it adds a sense of adventure that I enjoy, and this book had that in spades. A lot happens in this book, and I found it interesting and exciting to read, and with how this book ended, and the teaser for the next book, I am really looking forward to the next book!
