Review for Never Sweeter by Charlotte Stein - 5 out of 5!
Letty Carmichael can’t believe her eyes when she catches a glimpse of her high school tormenter, wrestling champ Tate Sullivan, on campus. College was supposed to be her escape from Tate’s constant ridicule. Now he’s in her classes again, just waiting for his chance to make her life hell. But when Letty and Tate are partnered up for an assignment—on sex in cinema, of all things—she starts to see a kinder, gentler side of him. And when she realizes Tate knows more about sex than she could ever guess at, he soon starts making her blush in a whole new way.
Tate Sullivan is haunted by regret over his cruelty toward Letty. So when she agrees to work with him, he seizes his chance to make amends. He can’t blame her for not believing he’s for real, but soon Tate starts to break down her wall. She wants to know about passion, desire, lust—topics he is well versed in. And in return she offers the one thing he always wanted: the chance to be more than just a jock.
Letty is shocked by how sensitive Tate can be. Still, desiring him feels ludicrous. Loving him is impossible. Craving him is beyond all reason. So why can’t she stop?
MY REVIEW -
Loved, Loved, Loved it!!! Never Sweeter is heartbreaking, but it is also so tender and heartwarming. Letty and Tate are beyond adorable together, and their chemistry is off the charts! When I read the synopsis, I was really intrigued by the premise. Letty was extremely bullied in high school by Tate and his friends, so much so that she was severely injured, and had to recuperate for about 2 years. Now, she is in college and wants to move on with her life, but when she spots Tate at school, her old fears begin to resurface. Tate is disgusted with how he use to treat Letty, and will do anything to make amends with Letty. Letty isn't very trusting of Tate, so he has his work cut out for him, but he is determined to show Letty he has changed, and all he wants is for her to be happy. Tate is utterly vulnerable with Letty, and she has a hard time holding herself back from him. I love how Tate is so comfortable being dorky, and basically just laying his soul out there to Letty; I could see how she couldn't resist him. There is definitely some intense love scenes in Never Sweeter, and they are very descriptive. I thought the scenes were written really well, and I've been skimming past the love scenes in other books because I have kind of gotten tired of them; I know, I know, how could I be tired of them, but after reading sex scenes for so long, it's bound to get mundane, but there was no skimming here! The heat and passion was insane! I love how emotionally bare Letty and Tate were with each other; especially Tate. I'm not too sure about Tate's little side story, also I wasn't fond of the talk about Tate's penis and his experiences, and I also would have loved some more to the ending; I need follow up books for both books in this series! But I loved so much else about this book that it didn't influence my rating.
So far, I have totally loved both books in this series, so I am definitely going to read the next book! Can't Wait!
