Review for Forever Pucked by Helena Hunting - 4 out of 5

SYNOPSIS - AMAZON LINK -

Being engaged to Alex Waters, team captain and the highest paid NHL player in the league, is awesome. How could it not be?

In addition to being an amazing hockey player, he’s an incurable romantic with an XL heart, and an XXL hockey stick in his pants. And he knows how to use it. Incredibly, orgasmically well. Alex is the whole package and more. Literally. Like his package is insane. Total world record holder material.

So it makes complete sense that Violet Hall can’t wait to nail him down to the matrimonial mattress and become Mrs. Violet Waters.

It’s so romantic.

Violet is totally stoked to set a date.

Eventually. At some point. Likely before the next millennium. Or when Violet stops getting hives every time someone brings up the wedding, and their mothers stop colluding on stadium sized venues. Whichever comes first.

MY REVIEW -

First off, I listened to the audio version and both narrator did great; especially the female narrator. There's a female narrator for Violet's chapters, and a male narrator for Alex. I'd recommend the listening experience if you choose to read this.

I love the connection between Violet and Alex, and that's mainly why this got a 4 star. I was pretty lenient with the rating because of how adorable they are together. Pretty much the only scenes I liked are those between Violet and Alex. I love how much they support each other, and Alex is just a total sweetheart. He loves Violet so much, and I loved seeing Violet step up for him when he needed it. I was really disappointed with how Hunting made Violet in the previous 2 books. I liked her in the 1st book, but then Hunting made her into this horrible caricature of a person. There's still some of that, but she was better in this one.

What doesn't work for me, is that I think Hunting's humor and I don't vibe. Everything is just sex, sex, sex, that's all the girls talk about. Everyone is a sex addict, and have difficulty controlling themselves. There's so much of it, that I was just so tired of it all. I was super tired of the whole super MC stuff, and dressing up their private parts. So, yeah I don't like the humor. I guess it's suppose to be funny, but yeah, I don't think it is. I don't really like any of the other characters besides Alex and Violet. Charlene and Violet are supposed to be besties, but Charlene doesn't even talk to Violet about her relationship. Charlene and Darren's book is coming soon, and it seems it will have a BDSM type scenario. I don't think I really care about their story, but I may check it out. Lily and Randy pretty much just hump each other through this whole book. I actually like Miller, but I don't like Sunny. Originally, I thought Hunting did a dis-service to Sunny by not having her POV in their book, but the more scenes with Sunny, I think I would've hated to read her POV, so kudos to Hunting for letting the whole book be Miller's POV.

I like the storyline for Forever Pucked, and it is entertaining. If you liked the rest of the series, you'll probably like this. If you are new to the series, I'd recommend reading at least the first book in this series, so you get the full back story for Alex and Violet. I'd probably skip Lance's book, which is the next one after this, but I had already bought it before I realized that I don't like the "humor" in this series, so I'll probably skim to the good parts.
